Synopsis:

When Nicole Cassidy moves from sunny Georgia to gloomy New England, the last thing she expects is to learn that her homeroom is a cover for a secret coven of witches. Even more surprisingly … she’s apparently a witch herself. Despite doubts about her newfound abilities, Nicole is welcomed into this ancient circle of witches and is bedazzled by their powers—and, to her dismay, by Blake—the school’s notorious bad-boy.

Girls who get close to Blake wind up hurt. His girlfriend Danielle will do anything to keep them away, even if she must resort to using dark magic. But the chemistry between Blake and Nicole is undeniable, and despite wanting to protect Nicole from Danielle’s wrath, he finds it impossible to keep his distance.

When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle, and two others in their homeroom are gifted with mysterious powers. But the comet has another effect—it opens the portal to the prison world that has contained the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes and attacks Nicole and Blake, it’s up to them and the others to follow the clues from a cryptic prophecy so that they can save their town … and possibly the world.

My Thoughts:

I was provided with a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I received this book for review I knew it was about witches, but I had no idea it was also going to be about Greek Mythology! I love Greek Mythology so, when I began reading how the witches were related to the Gods I had to put the book down for a moment so I could get all my excitement out. I loved that Michelle Madow wrote this book! I mean what could be better than mixing witchcraft with Greek Mythology?! Nothing I tell ya. Nicole just found out that her home-room is a witch coven and that she’s a witch herself! That was the last thing Nicole expected to learn in her first day in her new school, but she grows into her new powers quickly and impresses everyone. When all her classmates are at their professors home to watch an Olympian Comet pass through the sky for the first time in thousands of years Nicole, Danielle, Blake, Kate and Chris are gifted powers that help them control the five elements Aether , water, fire, earth and wind.

I loved that this book threw me right into the action and that Nicole discovered she was a witch in the first chapter, it made the book that more interesting and we got to see a lot of Nicole's progression with her powers early on. Like I said above I really liked the way Madow mixed Greek mythology with Witchcraft it was something fresh and like nothing I had ever read before. Michelle's writing was very fast paced, full of action and packed with information about their powers and I really enjoyed that! It kept me turning the pages and wanting more! The characters were amazing especially Nicole her character development was great! I'm so glad that the next book comes out in April because after the bombshell that was dropped towards the end I NEED to know what happens. If you're looking for a fast paced book with some Greek Mythology and witchcraft then look no further this book is definitely it or if you're just looking for a different read.
