Synopsis:

Spinning Time, a time travel romance by D. F. Jones

1948, Burkett Falls
Southern debutante, Julia Boatwright has everything a twenty-one-year-old desires, a wealthy family, close friends, and a handsome fiancĂ© until she plunges into the deep pools of Burkett Falls trapped in a natural time portal that propels her seventy years into the future.

Will Julia find a way home before it's too late?

My Thoughts:

I was sent an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

D.F. Jones has become one of my favorite authors her novels are always so different and enjoyable.  I’m not a big fan of sci-fi, but I’m a sucker for romance so I thought I would give it a shot and I found myself not being able to put it down. Spinning time takes place in 1948 Burkett Falls and it follows Julia Boatwright! I found Julia to be a very likable character her bubbly attitude always made me smile and the fact that she was a feisty little thing when need be (she would probably have my head for calling her little) was just a plus! I always love a character that’s a sweetheart but has an attitude when needed. Julia’s love interest Phillip is so swoon worthy! The way he treats her and looks for her when she disappears is the kind of man I would want to be by my side.

Julia disappeared in the falls of Burkett after she accidentally slipped and a current took her. She ends up in some sort of time portal that takes her to present time Burkett Falls, to her luck she is found by Andy, Phillips grandson. While all this is occurring, we are also introduced to Ruben who is a time traveler that lives in Lunar City; his mission is to protect Julia! I really Liked Ruben, he was such a strong character and despite his feelings he always did what was in Julia’s best interested without thinking about himself. I think Jones did an amazing job writing this book the characters were complex and the way she described the time traveling machines and portals was phenomenal. It also showed how much research and time was put into the novel, but with that said I did feel a little lost once in a while when it involved teach talk. The way both of Julia’s worlds intertwine and come together was so well done! Jones wrote the perfect amount of romance mixed with sci-fi elements and a bit of action, she also threw some surprises my way that had me at the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and absolutely loved the ending! I can’t wait to read more from Jones. If you have yet to pick up her novels what are you waiting for.

Synopsis:

A promise imprisoned him. Betrayal will set him free.

Eutau Vidal owed nothing to anyone and lived his life as he wanted. But then his sister died, leaving her newborn son Kira in his care, and everything changed. The Purging sweeps on, spreading misery across the Land of Moenda as the Ascendancy wages its war of extermination against the Deadbringers. Now, torn between a promise to his dying sister and the desire to regain his freedom, Eutau struggles to care for his young nephew even as the babe begins to manifest dark powers of the most dangerous kind.

To Nurture & Kill is a tale of love and loss, the story of one man’s search for meaning amid the ashes of war. It is a standalone prequel to The Deadbringer, the first book in The Ellderet Series.

My Thoughts:

I was sent an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve always enjoyed reading novellas about a character’s past, it just makes me feel so much more connected to them and usually answers some of the questions that I have about them. I loved reading about Eutau and how he came to be the guardian of Kira! I really enjoyed how I could read about Kira as an infant, toddler and young child. Reading of how Kira struggled for being different really brought me to tears, it just broke me! But at the same time, I loved that Markoff wrote about it because it teaches us that being different is okay and that we are loved by many just the way we are! The character growth of Eutau in this novella was phenomenal! At one point, I did become very angry at him for leaving, but as I kept on reading, I began to understand that it was something that he needed to do so he could understand how much HE needs Kira in his life; maybe even a little more than Kira needs him. Like I said above I really enjoyed this book and it has made me even more excited for the rest of the series, if you have read The Deadbringer I highly recommend you read this novella! It brings the characters into a whole new perspective and baby/toddler Kira is super adorable! And if you have not read The Deadbringer what are you waiting for?!? It is such a good and different book!

Cornered into making a heart-wrenching decision, Molly teeters between deliverance and damnation. Who is worth saving most—a nation or the one she loves?

My Thoughts:

I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I can’t believe this is the last book in this series! I’m going to miss all these characters so much!! The book hangover with The Destined was so real, it took me a while to pick up another book and get over everything that happened.

I could not be more satisfied with the way things ended so as much as I’m going to miss the beautiful world and amazing characters that have made their way into my heart, I will say E.J. concluded this novel beautifully. Molly and Dev are such amazing characters and I will always love them, but there is one character that stole my heart and his name is Rae! Gosh, he may not be one of our main characters, but he sure made an impression on me; I love how selfless and just overall amazing he is and the fact that he is such an adorable dork makes me love him even more. The way E.J. Mellow made me fall in love with the secondary characters speaks volumes of her writing! I’ve read so many novels where the secondary characters just blend and become background noise, but not hers. This novel had me at the edge of my seat! I just could not put it down! Mellow put my babies through so much, but I forgive her hahaha.

Molly is such a bad ass character and her growth in this novel is amazing, she goes from a broken, shy girl to someone who won’t take shit from any one and will let her power known! Dev, what can I say about him?! He is just amazing and the way he loves Molly makes my heartache! He also goes through tremendous growth himself and learns that sometimes it is okay to trust others. Mellow made me an emotional wreck towards the end, but I would not change one single thing about this novel or series. Thank you so much E.J. for introducing me to these amazing characters and to taking me to the beautiful world of Terra! I’m sure I will be revisiting it soon on my spare time. And if you have not picked this series up please, please do I promise you will not regret, I mean come on Dev haha! But in all seriousness, I highly recommend this series is one of my favorites.

Synopsis:

Trent Donavan is the golden boy of the rock world. As lead singer of Three Ugly Guys, he’s every fangirl’s dream, and with his newfound fame the women flow as readily as alcohol and drugs. There’s no doubt women are Trent’s preferred indulgence after a successful show.

That is, until the feisty little blonde joins the tour.

Lexi Marx loves music. It runs in her blood and flows through her soul. As the illegitimate daughter of a rock legend, she’s determined to make it in the music industry on talent alone. So when her agent scores her the opening act gig for the next 3UG tour it seems her hard work, hopes, and dreams have finally come to fruition.

Until she spends time with the band. More accurately, Trent Donovan. She’d feel better if that arrogant manwhore of a lead singer would stop hitting on her with his dreamy eyes, witty comebacks, and voice that melts the most jagged of hearts.

But Trent is determined to prove to Lexi he’s not such a bad guy, and as music binds their friendship, Lexi’s left with the most confusing of emotions. Could this be love or an uninvited distraction? She can still have it all, if only her heart doesn’t lead her off track.

MY Thoughts:

An ARC was sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I finished this book in two days and that was only because I had to take breaks, I think if I would have been uninterrupted, I could have finished it in one sitting. I've always enjoyed Kacey Shea's books and Detour was no exception. I first met the boys from 3UG in her first novel Uncovering Love and I never knew how much they needed their own book until now. I absolutely fell in love with the boys and can't wait to read more about them!

This novel is told in dual perspective! I always enjoy books like this because it lets me in both the characters heads. Lexi is the daughter of a rock legend, but she doesn't want anyone to know because she wants to make it in the music world all on her own. Lexi was a complex character and did get on my nerves once in a while, but that girl is as tough as nails! The things she had been through made me understand why she was so closed off and did not want to let her guard down. The character development she goes through is very well written and made me like her a lot at the end. Trent oh, Trent! Trent is the lead singer in 3UG and he loves women more than anything so, being a rock star is perfect for him; women love him and will do anything to end the night on his bed and that’s just okay in Trent’s book. Until he meets Lexi he just can’t stay away from her and sleeping with other women just doesn’t feel right anymore. I really liked Trent even with his man-whore ways, he was laid back and had me cracking up with his antics! He also goes through some great character development that made me love him more than I already did!

I really enjoyed reading about 3UG and Lexi! I loved the story and how everything turned out at the end. There were some chapters that had me in tears and other that had me cracking up! I really liked to see how it is when bands go on tour and how crazy it can get. Like I've already said I really fell for 3UG and I'm glad that there are more books coming because when I got to that last page on the book all I said was 'wait there isn’t more?' I want more and I'm happy Kacey is giving it to us especially since the next one revolves around my favorite 3UG! This book is a light read that has you cracking up with all the antics the band does, but it also has a story that pulls at your heartstrings. Kacey you have done it again and I can’t wait to read more of your work!

Uncovering Love: The Wedding Cover Reveal

Title: Uncovering Love: The Wedding
Series: Uncovering Love Book 4
Author: Kacey Shea
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Novella
Release Date: June 30, 2017 Cover Designer: Perfect Pear Creative Photographer: Wander Aguiar Cover Model: Steven Dehler
Eleven months ago, Evelyn Harper went undercover to investigate Tate Reynolds as a viable love interest and potential boyfriend for a wealthy client. What began as a temporary job transformed into an exciting new career and more significantly, the love of her life.
Now the two are planning their own walk down the aisle. Except their path is crowded with a few bumps along the way. The urgent investigation of a family matter. A sexy new client. Pregnant bridesmaids, an ex, and a sprinkle of cold feet leaves the couple stumbling toward their big day.
Forever is a long time, but Evie and Tate are determined to get hitched no matter what life throws their way. Will they make it to the wedding or uncover more challenges than a young couple in love can handle?
This novella is the forth book in the Uncovering Love series, and while it can be read as a standalone, it contains major spoilers.

“So, want to confide in your best friend why the most relaxed bride in all of history has suddenly developed a case of jitters?”
“What?” Am I that obvious? Kate’s glare tells me I am. “Fine. I’m nervous. That’s normal.”
“But you’re not an average bride. What gives?”
“I just had this picture in my mind of how the day would go, you know? And it’s not about good weather, though that would be nice, or how extravagant my dress is, even though it’s really the most beautiful thing I’ve ever worn, or if my hair looks perfect, though a good hair day gives a girl confidence to take on the world—”
“Evie.”
“It’s . . . I didn’t expect my sister to be sad on my wedding day. But now, with everything going on with Drew, I don’t see how this ends any differently.”
“Oh, Evie.” Kate frowns.
“I know. It’s completely selfish. But it’s an important day, and I wanted those celebrating around us to be happy. You have Jon. Carly has Derek. I’ve always thought my sister and Drew had the perfect marriage. They’re the example of what I’ve always wanted. And now . . .”
“See. This is why weddings are stupid,” Kate offers helpfully.
“What?” I straighten my spine.
“Evie. Your wedding day is just another day.”
It’s all I can do to not roll my eyes. “Tell me how you really feel.”
“I will. It’s a day. It’s an important moment, yes, but it’s only a moment. You and Tate have your entire lives ahead of you. Enjoy your wedding, sure, but don’t stack expectations all around it, because life is out of your control. What’s happening with your sister sucks, but we don’t know the entire story. And even if we never do, it’s out of your control.”
I pick at the edge of my paper napkin. “God, this is so stressful. We should’ve eloped.”
“Don’t you dare!” Kate glares. “I won’t miss my best friend’s wedding. Also, I have to witness you voluntarily wearing heels.”
“About that . . . I’m not.” I cringe because I know her too well.
“What?” she almost screams.
“I bought white Chucks. I’m good.” I shrug, hoping she’ll let my choice of footwear go.
She shakes her head but holds her tongue as Joe returns with a plate of fried appetizers and two giant glasses of soda. As soon as he leaves she pins me with a hard glare. “Now that’s the most upsetting thing you’ve said all night.”
I push the mozzarella closer to her, fried cheese a balm for all things upsetting.
“Kate, it’ll be fine.” I take a bite, chew, and swallow with a grin. “It’s out of your control.”
She picks up a fried zucchini slice and dips it in ranch dressing. “Remember that at your bachelorette party next week. You know what they say about payback.” Her eyes dance with amusement as she fills her mouth with food.
I smile sweetly and pull the plate of food closer to my side of the table. “Is it too late to pick a new maid of honor?” I joke, but I’m thankful to have a friend like Kate. Someone I’ve known more than half my life, and who gets me enough to know a night like this is just what I need. We spend the rest of dinner going through my to-do list. She puts most of my fears to rest, and volunteers to help assemble wedding favors the next day. But even her ever positive, no shit attitude can’t shake the ominous feeling toward my impending nuptials. I don’t have control over what happens with Melissa and Drew, but hell if I won’t do everything I can to uncover the mess of it all.
Kacey Shea is a mom of three, wife, and indie author who resides in sunny Arizona. She enjoys reading and writing romance novels as much as her son loves unicorns, which is a lot.
When she's not writing you will find her playing taxi cab to her children while belting out her favorite tunes, meeting friends or family for food and to share some laughs, or sweating it out in the gym. Kacey finds that picking up heavy weights repeatedly is good for her mental health as much as it is for the physical.
She has an unhealthy obsession with firefighters. It could be the pants. It could be the fire. It's just hot. On occasion she has been known to include them, without their knowledge, in her selfies outside the grocery store.
Kacey one day aspires to be a woman hand model in a sexy photo shoot. You know, the woman's hand raking across the muscular back or six pack stomach of the male fitness model. Yep, that hand.
Until that day comes she will continue writing sexy, flirty romance novels in hopes to bring others joy!
