Meet the Author! Marissa Meyer

Synopsis:

In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

My Thoughts:

In this novella we go back to Queen Levana's past. We go back to when Queen Levana is a 16 year old princess to when she becomes Queen of her beloved Luna.

Let me just say that this book made me feel some things that I never in my wildest dreams thought I could feel for Levana,I actually felt sorry for her. Levana grew up to be a twisted, manipulative, evil Queen and this novella helps us understand why and let me tell you are going to want to rip her head off. This novella also helps us understand how Winter and Cinder came to be in Levanas life.

I recommend this to anyone that loves the Lunar Chronicles and wants to learn more about Levana and her evil ways. I also recommend you read them in order of publication Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and then Fairest, you don't have to but you would be more familiar with the characters when you begin reading Fairest. There is an excerpt of Winter in this novella that just made me anticipate the release even more (is it fall yet). This series is amazing I cant wait to see how it ends!

Waiting on Wednesday #6

A COLD LEGACY

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breakingthespine in which we spotlight a upcoming release we can't wait to get our hands on.

Title: A Cold Legacy
Author: Megan Sheperd
Expected Release Date: January 27, 2015
Publisher: Balzer+Bray/ HarperCollins
Page Count: 400

Synopsis:
After killing the men who tried to steal her father’s research, Juliet—along with Montgomery, Lucy, Balthazar, and a deathly ill Edward—has escaped to a remote estate on the Scottish moors. Owned by the enigmatic Elizabeth von Stein, the mansion is full of mysteries and unexplained oddities: dead bodies in the basement, secret passages, and fortune-tellers who seem to know Juliet’s secrets. Though it appears to be a safe haven, Juliet fears new dangers may be present within the manor’s own walls.

Then Juliet uncovers the truth about the manor’s long history of scientific experimentation—and her own intended role in it—forcing her to determine where the line falls between right and wrong, life and death, magic and science, and promises and secrets. And she must decide if she’ll follow her father’s dark footsteps or her mother’s tragic ones, or whether she’ll make her own.

With inspiration from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, this breathless conclusion to the Madman’s Daughter trilogy is about the things we’ll sacrifice to save those we love—even our own humanity.

My Thoughts:
I can't wait for this book to come out! It's the ending to The Madman's Daughter trilogy, I already own the first two books  The Madmans Daugther which is retold in Dr. Moreau's Island, Her Dark Curiosity which is a retelling of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and finally A Cold Legacy which is a Frankenstein retelling.  I have not read any of the book since I'm waiting on the last one to marathon the series! All the books sound so interesting and dark. I was told that you have to read them in order, you can't skip one to read the other even if they're retellings of different classics they all tie together. Im so excited I cant wait for this book I've heard so many good things of this series and I'm a sucker for a good retelling. Especially if it's about the classics!

PUBLISHER: AMULET BOOKS

SYNOPSIS:

Even if it means challenging Queen Red to a final battle of wills and wiles . . . and even if the only way to Wonderland, now that the rabbit hole is closed, is through the looking-glass world--a parallel dimension filled with mutated and violent netherling outcasts. In the final installment of the wildly popular Splintered trilogy, Alyssa and her dad journey into the heart of magic and mayhem in search of her mom and to set right all that's gone wrong. Together with Jeb and Morpheus, they must salvage Wonderland from the decay and destruction that has ensnared it. But if they succeed and come out alive, can everyone truly have their happily ever after?

MY THOUGHTS:
I cant wait for the last book in this amazing trilogy to come out! It's going to be a bittersweet moment for me. I want to see how it ends, but at the same time I don't want it to end. I'm going to miss the beautiful and dark world that A.G. Howard introduced me to, not to mention the characters I have grown to love ( Morpheus) lol.  If you have not read this trilogy I highly recommend it! A.G did an amazing job reimagining Wonderland and the wonderland characters. She is brilliant this is by far my favorite Alice in Wonderland retelling, that I wish would never end! but unfortunately all good things must come to an end! Oh and we just take a moment to admire the gorgeous cover!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT?
"Splintered" Is a dark retelling of the iconic story "Alice in Wonderland". Alyssa is a Sophomore in high school and a decedent of Alice Liddell, her mother who is in an Asylum marked crazy by the common society for her weird Alice ticks, Some including not eating if not served in a teacup. Alyssa has started to hear Flowers and bugs speaking so in a attempt to "Shut them up" she uses them as a tool and her mosaics, so she wont end up mad like her mother. One day when Alyssa meets her mother in the asylum as they do every week, She hears Flowers speak and so does her mother who incredibly hears the same thing. Her mother tells her hints about wonderland and she starts to believe its true. She finds the rabid hole and her along with her childhood friend and love interest Jeb land in Wonderland where they meet the mysterious and sexy Morpheus. It's there where Alyssa starts her adventure to fix all the mistakes her great great great grandmother Alice caused, and to lift her family curse.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE BOOK:
This book is amazing! I couldn't put it down. the new wonderland that A.G Howard created was beautiful and mysterious. its like nothing you have ever read before. I loved the way she introduced the same characters from the original wonderland but darker and more mysterious. The love triangle its not cheesy like in other book or just thrown in there, you don't know who you want Alyssa to end up with the childhood friend Jeb or the mysterious Morpheus I for one am team Morpheus lol. if you haven't picked up this book you should is a must read. and a plus that cover would look gorgeous on your bookshelf. Rated this book a 5 out of 5 stars!
