Synopsis:

Orphaned on the streets as a baby, Nashville Brown, a.k.a Kill Operative 3, knows better than to rely on anyone. With heightened senses and superhuman strength to survive, she’s been raised as the perfect assassin.

The trick to her success? Keeping everyone, even her best friend, at arm’s length.

Losing his entire family in the span of a year, Carter Smith left his ability to love buried deep in their graves. His only concerns now are completing his missions and effortlessly charming the next temptress to warm his bed.

The key to his accomplishments? Working alone mixed with a Casanova smile.

But when a deadly weapon needs to be stopped from falling into the wrong hands, the lone wolves find themselves thrown into an explosive partnership. Can Carter and 3 lower their guns aimed at one another long enough to succeed, or will their unwillingness to compromise end up destroying more than their perfect records? Whatever their differences, both agree on one thing—in the game of lies and deceit, the line between friend and foe is often blurred by blood splatter.

My Thoughts:

I was provided with an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

WOW, this book blew me away! It was very different from The Dreamer trilogy and I absolutely loved! It really amazes me when an author can venture out to different genres and hit it out of the park.

Nashville works as an undercover agent, she possesses super human abilities that make her one of the best agents in her agency. Carter is also an undercover agent for a sister agency and he does things a little differently than Nashville. This novel is told from dual perspective; it was nice to see what was going through both our characters minds.

Nashville was such a kick ass character; I really liked reading about her and her abilities! She also went through some character development trough out the novel that I enjoyed. Oh, Carter what can I say about him I think I enjoyed his chapters more than Nashville’s just because he was so carefree and made me laugh out loud way to many times. The relationship that builds between Carter and Nashville was done very well, Carter had to work for Nashville and it was not insta-love; that’s always refreshing.

There was one thing that bumped my five starts to four and that was the bits of Spanish throughout the book, sometimes the way the way they were used just didn’t make sense, but other than that I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. Mellow hooked me from the first page and didn’t let me go till the end, she hit me with some unexpected twists that had me at the edge of my seat! E.J. Mellow has become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us. If you're in the mood for an action packed romance I recommend you give The Animal under the Fur a go.

Killmore Release Day!!!

Title: Killmore
Series: Killmore #1
Author: Martha Sweeney
Release Date: Nov 15, 2016
You know how they say the enemy of your enemy is your friend? Well, I'm still determining if there's any truth to that statement.
I was used by the Feds to report on the dealings of Antonio Herrera - the major Mexican crime lord since his uncle passed, leaving everything to Antonio. I knew everything about Antonio's business. How, you ask? I was the only woman he kept close, really close - he claimed he loved me. You get to see and hear a lot of interesting things when you hold that kind of status.
Now, the Feds have me in what they claim is witness protection. However, I never feel safe knowing he's out there. My family thinks I'm dead. All the while, I keep to myself, avoid most people in my new hometown and train rigorously everyday—waiting for the time when the devil comes calling for his debt to be paid.
***This is the first book in a two book series. This book should be read prior to the second book.

”Let’s get one thing fucking clear,” I spit through gritted teeth as my body trembles.  “I don’t care what you people have to say.  If you abandon me and I’m left to where it’s either him or me…he will be the one who ends up dead!  Got it!”
“Mrs. Turner.…”
“Don’t you fucking call me that,” I snap with venom coursing through my veins.  The chair I was sitting in shoots back when I bolt upright.  “Don’t any of you fucking call me that.  Got it!”
“Leia…we need him alive,” Tweddledum-ass agent reminds for the umpteenth time.
I never bothered to learn their real names.  Why waste my time when they all say the same bullshit about getting the bad guys and saving the world, let alone the fact that they all wear the same bland colored clothes?  I wonder how many of them may be in on it too.
“Well, I don’t,” I counter with a sneer.  “I don’t care…I don’t fucking care anymore.  Do you really think he’ll hesitate to kill me if he has the chance?  Seriously!”
“Mrs. Turner…Leia,” Tweddledumer-ass agent coaxes.
“I’ll do what you ask,” I remind.  “But, if that fucker comes after me in any way…and none of you are there to protect me…I will fucking kill him.  I will not willingly die by his hands.  I will fight with every last breath I have to make sure he’s dead before I die.”
“It won’t come to that,” Tweddledumer-ass comments.
I snicker in disbelief.
“We have everything we need to move forward with tonight,” Tweddledum-ass states.
“Yeah, like I haven’t heard that before,” I spit.
“We’ll be there,” Tweddledum-ass repeats.
“You better,” I scoff.  “Not like it matters anyway.”
“We will,” Tweddledumer-ass confirms.
“So,” I say, shrugging my shoulders.  “I wouldn’t be surprised if I have to do your jobs…but this time will be different.”
“Different?” Tweddledum-ass checks.
“At least I know what needs to be taken care of and not afraid to fucking do it,” I challenge.
“Are you saying that you’re going to take matters into your own hands tonight …regardless if we show up?” Tweddledum-ass checks.
“Does that get me out of going?” I probe.
“No, Leia,” Tweddledumer-ass confirms.  “It doesn’t.”
“Then, yes,” I state rather calmly.
Tweddledum-ass and Tweddledumer-ass shake their heads in objection, but don’t comment any further.  Hopefully my threat will guarantee their presence tonight.
“Can I go now?” I ask, getting up and heading toward the door, not waiting for an answer.
“Agent Thompson will need to see you on your way out to check the device,” Tweddledum-ass states.
“Yeah, yeah,” I acknowledge before the door slams behind me.
Thirty minutes later, I finally leave their creepy meet-up point located at a crusty-ass, pay by the hour brothel.  My body is oddly calm and relaxed as I head to the house I used to call home.  In the past, I was terrified of Jack when he got home from work and dinner wasn’t ready.  Four years into our marriage, I was running five minutes late, not like it was the first time or anything, and I ended up with a black eye and a kitchen covered in food from his tirade.   He apologized profusely after it happened, claiming that it would never happen again and that he’s just overwhelmed with the crap that’s occurring at work.  The next few months, he was the sweetest thing ever: buying me flowers, taking me out on dates more often and even buying me a little puppy, Shepard.
I was twenty-eight the first time Jack hit me.  It happened again not long after the old Jack, the good Jack, returned for that short period.  I honestly did believe Jack when he said it was the first and last time.
When Shepard got big enough, he bit Jack on the hand when Jack went to hit me.  Jack almost killed Shepard, but I begged him not to; Shepard was my only friend.  I told Jack that I would do whatever he wanted, so long as he didn’t kill Shepard — stupid me.  After that, the majority of the physical abuse stopped, but the verbal abuse continued as Jack forced me to do some of his dirty work, which is why I know so much about Antonio Herrera and the drug and human trafficking businesses that Antonio inherited.  Aside from Jack forcing me to help him with his side job, I met Antonio, which turned out to be a blessing and a curse.
When Antonio met me, he didn’t like how Jack was using me as bait to lure men who owed Antonio money.  Antonio took a quick liking to me the day we met.  The next day, Jack brought me back to one of Antonio’s clubs, having me dress up for the guy.  The dirty work I had to do for Antonio changed—some of it became letting Antonio touch me.
Antonio had a gentler touch than my husband which made it more bearable to endure since my own husband literally pimped me out to his boss — the boss of Miami.  Antonio liked rough sex, but he never beat me like my husband did.  He never raped me like Jack did.  If I wasn’t in the mood, Antonio at least respected my wishes and would fuck one of his other mistresses.  We didn’t have sex at all the first few times we met.  Antonio was a perfect gentleman.  When I realized what giving him my body could mean for my safety, I willingly complied.
When I first learned about my husband and his other line of work, I had the doctors give me the birth control shot and asked them to test me regularly.  The funny, sadistic thing was that Jack wanted children and objected to us using any form of birth control.  When the doctor began to inquire the reason for the regular shots and tests, I just told him and his staff that my husband and I were sexually experimental, which included multiple partners.  Part of that was true.  I slept mostly with Antonio, unless Jack forced me, which Antonio put a stop to as soon as he found out.  Jack was sleeping with some of the girls who were regularly on hand for the goons aside from the ones the business brought in, claiming that it was part of his job to help break them in before they were sold.
With only ten minutes to spare, I get to the house with two large pizzas in hand.  Jack won’t suspect anything since it’s Friday, and Fridays are our usual pizza night before leaving for business.  I shove the boxes into the oven and turn it on to keep the food warm.  Then, I dart upstairs and change into a more appropriate outfit that both Jack and Antonio expect me to wear even though it gets cold once the sun is down, especially by the docks where the new shipment is arriving tonight.
Shepard follows my every move and whines while I pace the bedroom as I get ready.  He knows what’s coming since Shepard always comes with me.  I convinced Antonio to let me bring Shepard along after our fifth time being together, saying that I’ve trained Shepard for protection and when we’re together, Shepard will protect him too.
With a black low-cut, v-neck blouse that is sleeveless and a matching, form-fitting pencil skirt, black fishnet stockings and the black designer heels Antonio bought me, I hurry downstairs to the kitchen.  I pour a glass of wine for myself and start pouring a beer into the frozen glass mug I remove from the freezer when I hear the garage door opening.
“Hi, honey,” I greet Jack in a monotone voice when he walks through the door that leads from the garage into the kitchen.
Jack nods, but doesn’t reply.  This is our usual greeting when he’s flanked by three men who are a part of Antonio’s protection detail.
“I got your favorite,” I mention.  “And, extra for the boys.”
The three henchmen perk up at the mention of extra food for them.  One of them takes the pies from the oven and the four of them start eating instantly without a single word uttered.
I wait patiently, knowing that when we have this kind of company, Jack won’t let me start eating until they’ve had their first round.  It’s kind of like Jack’s way of establishing dominance in his home since I’ve got more control when Antonio and his lackeys are present.
Jorge offers me a slice before he takes his second and I take it with a smile and nod.  Other than Antonio, Jorge’s always been the nicest to me, not caring who is around.  The henchmen are all supposed to be nice and protect me since I’m Antonio’s main woman.  I would almost speculate that Jorge has a little crush on me.  If I was younger and the circumstances were different, I think I would have gone out on a date with him.
When the men are done eating, I scoop out some ice cream and offer it to all four of them as Jack turns on the television, finding the sports channels.  While their attention stays fixed in the opposite direction, I clean up the mess in the kitchen, feed Shepard, and let him out in the backyard.  Once my wifely duties are complete and a commercial comes on for the game, Jack heads upstairs to change into his black on black outfit I laid out for him.  Jorge, Alberto, and Jesus turn the television off and join me at the kitchen table where I sit reading, waiting for the night to begin.
By ten, the five of us and Shepard take two different black Escalades that have tinted, bulletproof windows and make our way over to Antonio.  Twenty minutes later, we arrive at Antonio’s main home in Miami.  Two of Antonio’s men lead me up to Antonio’s bedroom, leaving my four companions with the rest of the crew.
It’s about time the Feds get something right when it comes to microphones and listening in on conversations.  They’ve finally adopted the use of actual high-tech gear that goes completely unnoticed while providing optimal visual and audio feedback.  They managed to duplicate the earrings I’m wearing which were given to me by Antonio.  No more getting caught with a wire being strapped to your stomach or through an ugly brooch or a thing sticking in your ear that are way too obvious.  Knowing what the night will entail, I remove my earrings, leaving them on the jewelry dish Antonio bought me that rests on the counter in the bathroom — no need to let the Feds who are watching get any more of a glimpse of what they really don’t need to see.
As part of Antonio’s pre-game or pre-deal regimen, he likes to become completely relaxed — that entails having sex.  Two other women, Genevieve and Maribelle, join us in the bedroom, but Antonio pays more attention to me as he always does.  He claims that I always give him the best head he’s ever had in his life — and that he loves me.  My nonchalant attitude towards him sleeping with other women when I’m not around drives him crazy.  He wants me to be possessive and jealous.  I cater to his game on occasion, teasing him to giving him what he wants just enough to keep him interested.  It also helps maintain my status and rank within his organization.  The teasing only makes him more aroused too.  It drives Jack fucking crazy that I’ve got a higher position than he does, even though Antonio did promote him after Antonio and I were introduced.  I’ve got more in with the boss than Jack will ever have, which is why the Feds need me and why I need them to get me out of this fucking hellhole.
Does Antonio treat me good?  Yes.  Far better than Jack ever has, but I don’t want to be known as the mistress or wife of anyone associated with a cartel — especially the boss.
Genevieve, Maribelle, and I freshen up in the bathroom after our frolic with Antonio under the sheets.  Even though the two of them are jealous of me for having Antonio’s eye more than any other woman, they’ve always been nice and offer to help me finish getting ready.  I get why they’re mad.  They want the security that I have.  If there was ever a challenge with one of the other girls in the past, in any sense, Antonio would add them to the collection of women being sold — or he’d kill them.
You may ask how I can be so casual and nonchalant about everything that is happening around me?  I can only relate it to the fact that I have to be.  I have to be numb.  I have to not care in order to maintain my status and the little bit of control that I do have over myself and my situation.  I’ve watched Antonio, and a number of his goons, point a gun and fire it into someone’s head.  I puked only the first time.  It’s not easy seeing a person’s face when the bullet hits, let alone how their body flops to the ground immediately afterward — some of them still move.  The second and third time I saw someone being killed, I cried only because they were women.  I’m grateful for the fact that I’ve only had to watch or be near when someone’s been shot.  There have been some stories that trickle around about how people’s fingers, hands, or toes are chopped off, bodies being torturing in all sorts of ways, including burnings, and other things I don’t dare repeat.
Antonio apologized profusely the first three times to me when I witnessed people being killed, claiming that it’s only a part of the business and it must occur .  His actions are how he needs to establish fear in all of them in order to maintain his leadership.  He professed that he would never have me killed because he loves me as much as he tells me on a regular basis.  He professed his feelings for me the first night we had sex.
His attitude changed toward me when I saw the fourth person killed.  I think I earned Antonio’s respect at a whole new level after that.  I’m not sure why and I honestly don’t want to know, but I think it’s because I didn’t flinch when it happened.
I think Antonio is a coward.  Actually, I think they’re all cowards.  Anyone who uses fear to gain and obtain power is a coward.  They’re just insecure bullies who do it to validate themselves.  Jack was my first real bully outside of the stupid shit you deal with as a kid in school, and I think he hates me because he can’t bully me anymore.  Antonio won’t have it.  I won’t have it.

Welcome again to Otaku Friday. This week we bring you Deadman Wonderland! (Cue Rock Music Here!) okay now that your all set lets get started with today's deadly sin Deadman Wonderland.

So, What's It About?!
A massive anomaly ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of the city into the ocean. Ten years later, the story shifts to Ganta Igarashi, a seemingly ordinary student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. As an escapee, a survivor of the great earthquake, Ganta has no memories of the tragedy and has lived a normal life. This all changes when a strange person covered in blood and crimson armor floats through his classroom windows. Grinning madly, the 'Red Man' massacres Ganta's entire class but instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in Ganta's chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is subjected to a kangaroo court as a suspect and is sentenced to death at Deadman Wonderland, a prison that doubles as a theme park.
   * This story is fantastic, a middle school student blamed for the massacre of an entire class then sentenced to a crazy facility that uses criminals as scapegoats in a family theme park... if this doesn't already catch your attention well I have nothing more to say.

Review Me!
I watched the anime and read the manga and this is really just so amazing, Deadman Wonderland makes you experience a roller-coaster of emotions and just makes you want to stay all day at home and read! The story was so well written the characters were all so fascinating and different there was not one character that didn't have a kick ass backstory! The art was also enchanting and gory that I stayed minutes taking in it all in. Deadman Wonderland is truly great forever a favorite. As for the manga I am a bit disappointed many main characters from the manga where missing due to the 13 episode count and really had no closure. If you really want to enjoy Deadman Wonderland to its full potential read the manga you wont regret it.

Doubt

Author: Yoshike Tonagi
English Publisher: Yen Press
Volumes: 2 Omnibus Edition
Buy Me: Amazon, BN, RightStuf
Art: 3.5/5
Story: 7/10
Overall Score: 8/10

Hello, welcome to this weeks Otaku Friday! On today's Otaku Friday we will review a unpopular but great manga called "Doubt". Doubt is a 4 volume Mystery/horror manga written and illustrated By. Yoshiki Tonogai. If your into the less graphic horror genre this is for you keep reading to find out more!

So, What's It about?
Doubt revolves around a fictional cell phone game called "Rabbit Doubt", in which the players are rabbits in a colony; one of the players is randomly chosen to act as a wolf infiltrating the group. Each round, the rabbits guess which is the wolf as the rabbits are eaten one-by-one until only the wolf is left.
In the story, four players of the "Rabbit Doubt" game Yū Aikawa, Eiji Hoshi, Haruka Akechi, Rei Hazama and a non-player Mitsuki Hōyama meet to relax together. They are knocked unconscious and awaken in an abandoned psychiatric hospital to meet Hajime Komaba and discover Rei hanged. The group find Rei's cell phone and realize that they're playing a real-life game of "Rabbit Doubt". To survive, the wolf, described as the liar, must die.
     * I found this story to be a little similar to "SAW" which if you haven't watched is an American horror film where a group of people are put into a room and together they have to figure out how to escape. This manga isn't exactly the same as saw, but does have many similarities. The twist and turns in this series had me guessing who the rabbit was and kept me doubting every character.  If your a horror fan then is a great pick up, and since it is a short story its a quick and good read.

Review me!
Although I did enjoy reading this I found the story a little over played and not anything very original. The characters, being a short story didn't have any character growth and you also got your average manga characters, the thug, the innocent sweet girl, The "hot" girl, etc. I'm probably being a little harsh and making it seem unappealing, but it does keep you interested. What really saves this series is the twist and turns, Soon you even start to doubt the protagonist, and that is what makes this story a gem among rocks. The art was light and didn't have anything very gruesome which is great for some readers, but not the greatest thing for others. Yoshinki put a great train of thought into the overall story which you will see if you pick this little gem up.

The Future Diary

The Future Diary (OT)

Title: The Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)
Author: Sakae Esuno
English Publisher:
-Tokyo Pop (Former)
-Viz Media Entertainment
Volumes: 12
Art: 4.5/5
Story: 9.5/10
Overall Score: 9.5/10

Welcome all to OTAKU FRIDAY! Today we review another Shonen psychological drama. The Future Diary, The Future Diary revolves around a group of twelve people who all write their own individual diaries. The Diaries reflect each persons job or personality,  but never did they imagine that their lives would change forever and that their greatest power and weakness lay within their diary.

So, What's It about!?
Yukiteru "Yuki" Amano is a loner who spends most of his time writing a diary on his cell phone or talking with his imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space; and Murmur, Deus's servant. One day, Deus gives Yuki a special diary, mentioning something about a game. Strangely, Yuki's new diary has entries in it spanning the next 90 days—entries about the future that come unnervingly true. Deus, revealed to be the not-so-imaginary God of Time and Space, then forces Yuki to participate in a battle royale with eleven other people, each of whom also has a diary that can predict the future in some unique way. The rules of this "Diary Game" are simple: the contestants must try to find and kill all the other contestants before the world ends on Day 90, and only the last one standing can prevent the Apocalypse and become the new God of Time and Space.
  * I usually go for these stories because i'm really into putting a group of people together and seeing who would actually play into the sick game. Along the way we get to see every characters back story and reason for becoming god and let me tell you it is nothing less of a Physiological Drama we have the good guy who is pushed against the wall in order to save his own. The misunderstood people who had no other choice but to feed into other peoples cruel intentions, and the innocent which the game has corrupted. The overall story has some major twist and turns that will keep you reading, and also some very sad stories that just keep you turning the pages.

Review Me !
I really loved this story and the bond the two protagonist shared. The two protaganist relationship wasn't so much of a romantic relationship, but one of mutual need. The Future Diary was a whole new world for me because I've never read something so twisted as in a crazy, what the h*** is going on way. This story goes much deeper than your average manga with great character growth and a bond achieve for each character. This story faces many psychological as well as physical issues like domestic violence, evil cults, corrupt politicians, terrorist acts ,and psychotic emotionally damaged people. I really loved this story, but I wouldn't have a thirteenth year old reading this I would say older teen. If your looking for a great action packed manga this one is for you and is highly recommended.

Demons and Pearls

Book Review

Demons & Pearls - The Razor's Adventures #1

Title: Demons and Pearls
Author: P.S. Bartlett
Date Published: April 14, 2015
Publisher: Self-Published
Rating:
Meet the Author: P.S. Bartlett
Buy Me: Amazon

Synopsis:

Had I known the repercussions of murdering the captain of a pirate ship, I may have taken the time necessary to rethink the act. As if I've ever had a choice that didn’t involve a fight or at the very least, defending myself against some man, hell bent on destroying me or my kin.
All we wanted was our freedom. All we found were demons disguised as men.
A woman pirate needs friends, big strong male friends, to survive in this unforgiving land of thieves and murderers—at least until she gets on her feet. Of course, trying to find one person you can trust is like finding an oyster with a perfect pearl in it—you have to break a few shells and get your hands dirty. We were lucky. I found the biggest, baddest and most honorable man in the Caribbean and he just happened to be in the pearl business.

My Thoughts:

The author was kind enough to send me her book in exchange for an honest review. This book was amazing, author P.S. Bartlett kept me on my toes, just when I thought I had figured something out she would hit me with a twist and surprise me completely. This was my first pirate book and I loved every second of it, it was so different from what I usually read and I loved the pirate dialogue.

Ivory and her cousins find themselves on board the Demon after Ivory made a deal with the captain to be taken safely to Jamaica, but when she kills the captain in self-defense she finds that the pirate code no matter how good of a fighter she is, it does not allow woman to be pirates let alone captains of a ship. With help on the new captain Will she finds a home for her and her cousins while she can get on her feet. That is where she gains knowledge that some of the pirates have been planning to sell them into slavery, but when Ivory meets handsome captain Rasmus she finally finds a man she really feels comfortable with and who she feels can trust with her life.

Gosh, there aren't enough words to describe how much I love this book; Ivory and her cousins are such strong and badass characters and Rasmus can we just take a moment and admire the love this man and Ivory share they made my heart melt. This book hits you with action since the beginning and keeps it coming throughout the whole book and the moments we get with Rasmus and Ivory are perfection. The ending left me wanting more I can't wait for the second book and see in what adventures Ivory and Rasmus lead us to. I was just wanted to take a moment and say that I fell in love with River too he is such a great character. If you want to read a book filled with adventure and pirates look no further this is the book or if you're in a reading slump this book will definitely get you out of it.

Title: Winterspell

Publisher: Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers
Page Count: 464
Rating: ★★★

SYNOPSIS:

Then, on Christmas Eve, disaster strikes.

Her home is destroyed, her father abducted--by beings distinctly not human. To find him, Clara journeys to the war-ravaged land of Cane. If they're to survive, Clara has no choice but to trust him, but his haunted eyes burn with secrets--and a need she can't define. With the dangerous, seductive faery queen Anise hunting them, Clara soon realizes she won't leave Cane unscathed--if she leaves at all.

Inspired by The NutcrackerWinterspell is a dark, timeless fairy tale about love and war, longing and loneliness, and a girl who must learn to live without fear

MY THOUGHTS:
Let me start off by saying I believe this is one of those books that either you love or you hate there's no inbetween, and I have to say I really enjoyed the overall story.  This book is centered around a girl named Clara that lives in New York with her Father the Mayor, her sister, and her Godfather. After her mothers death Clara's father shuts down and resources to alcohol to grieve, which leads Clara to sneak off and start to secretly train with her godfather. In this training sessions  Clara encounters a statue of a man whom she starts to confide her secrets with,  but as if the death of her mother is not enough , an old and very powerful Dr. Victor (which I believe the author made him a little too much of a perv) wants to ask for her hand in marriage.

But on Christmas Eve her godfather comes in like a madman and on a very important political party nonetheless to save her life. While her godfather is mumbling like a madman the most magical thing happens her statue comes to life, Who happens to be a prince that was put under a spell by Queen a Anise a powerful faery that has taken over his kingdom. During all this chaos faerys that Anise has sent to find the prince take Clara's father into this magical world instead. Clara and the Prince Nicholas have no choice but to go after them to safe her father, but when Nicholas arrives to his kingdom he is surprised to see that nothing is as he left it.

I gave this book 4 stars out of 5 because even though I really enjoyed the book there was some things I was not happy with.  To start of it took me a while to get into the book I found the beginning to be very boring and slow and I almost gave up on it (but I'm glad I didn't).  Another thing that bothered me from the first few chapters was the pervy Dr. Victor that was after Clara. Also the ending was not satisfying for me. I do believe as of right now this book is a standalone, and the ending left me with a lot of questions about Clara and Nicholas. I think this book hooked me when I got to chapter 8, thats when all the action and magical things began, after that chapter I couldn't put it down (I think I read it in one sitting). The author had so many twists, as soon as I believed I had everything figured out the author did a complete 360 on me and had me believing a whole new thing. I loved that I couldn't predict what was coming next. Also I loved Nicholas! I love his character development and how sweet he was toward Clara. Overall I do wish this book was a series because I could not get enough of Nicholas (yes, I know I'm obsessed with a fictional character). In another note I do believe this book is not for everyone, like I said in the beginning either you love it or you hate it there's no inbetween in  my opinion.

HABITS KICK BACK

BOOK REVIEW

Title: Habits Kick Back
Author: Marsha Cornelius
Date Published: July 8, 2014
Publisher: Hickory Flat Books
Page Count: 334
Rating: ★★★★.5

What is the book about:
Prescription drugs are so common in the future they’re called supplements, and dispensed at meals like side dishes. Just like everyone else, Luna takes pills to curb her appetite, increase her memory, focus her concentration, improve her mood, even suppress her sex drive.
By her sophomore year in college, however, she’s beginning to wonder what life is like outside this drug-induced state. The perfect opportunity to break out of the mire comes when she sees a picture of a medallion from the 5th century. She’s not sure where she’s seen it, but she hopes once her mind is clear, she will find the artifact.
When she stops taking supplements, she discovers food tastes delicious, her friend Sal is suddenly sexy, and the search for the lost medallion turns into a real adventure.
Hopefully, all her new habits don't get her killed

My thoughts on the book:
I was given an Ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is definitely very different from what I'm used to reading in a good way. I gave this book 4.5 stars out of 5 because I really enjoyed it, it just took me a while to get into the story.
In this book taking prescribed drugs which they call supplements is a very common thing they serve them during lunch like a side dish. The pills help with memory, focus, weight (this one really caught my attention lol) and even to suppress feelings for the opposite sex. But when our main character Luna discovers an ancient medallion she is sure she has seen before, she decides that she's tired of being drugged up she stops drinking her pills. It is then that she starts to realize that food is delicious and starts to feel a very powerful attraction to her best friend Sal.
I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the characters and the story. This book has humor, adventure, just the right amount of romance, and even action. I really do recommend you read this book it's a fast read and very enjoyable.

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5)

WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
In this book Clary is horrified when she finds out that demon Lilith's magic has tied Jace and her brother Sebastian together and now Jace has become a servant of evil. The clave is out to destroy Sebastian but there is no way of hurting Sebastian without hurting Jace. While Alec, Magnus, Simon and Isabelle try to make bargain with the Seelie, Demons and the Iron sisters,  Clary takes it up on herself to find a solution to bring her Jace back and kill her Brother.

MY TOUGHTS ON THE BOOK:
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the way Jace seemed to be so much more comfortable with his and Clary's relationship. I also liked how I learn more about Sebastian, his past and how he feels about his family, at a certain point in the book I really was starting to like Sebastian, yes I know CRAZY! this book is just great I think is the best one in the series. City of Fallen Angels had really put me off from the series because it seemed to just drag on, but as soon is I got into reading City of Lost Souls it sucked me back in I loved it!

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3)

Title: City of Glass
Author: Cassandra Clare
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

WHAT IS THIS BOOK ABOUT?
Clary finally knows where she can get the cure for her moms magic induced comma. She has to travel to the City of Glass Alicante, but Jace has a different plan he thinks Clary going to Alicante is a bad idea, that the clave will only want to use her for her newly found power. Clary goes into Alicante illegally which might mean death for her, to make matters worse she finds out Jace doesn't want her there and Simon has been thrown into jail and the new inquisitor is very suspicious of a vampire that can withstand the sun. Clary finds and ally in Sebastian a very mysterious Shadowhunter that she seems to have a very strange connection to. The downworlders come to the conclusion that the only way to defeat Valentine and get the mortal instruments back is for the Shadowhunters to fight along side of them. Shadowhunters have always fought their battles alone can they swallow their pride and fight with their mortal enemies to defeat Valentine.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE BOOK:
This book was sooooo good! Like I have said before this series just seems to get better and better. I loved the way Cassandra takes you deeper into what Valentine did to Jace and why Clarys mother kept her out of the Shadowhunter world for so long. Also many secrets and truths are revealed in this book, it just made me want to keep reading and made me so happy for the characters that I have grown to love! Also there is so much action in this book you can't go one chapter without some sort of battle going on lol. In overall this book is amazing if you have not picked up this series I highly recommend you do! :)
